Acrylic, ink and charcoal on canvas 120 x 90cm — Framed — $2,600
A solitary tree in red inland country, shaped by wind and time into a pronounced diagonal lean, yet rooted and present. The charcoal drawing describing bark and branch has a quality of careful observation — this tree was known before it was painted. Around it, the ancient geology of the Australian interior in deep reds, ochres and warm browns. The title captures what the painting is about: the persistence of living things in difficult country, the refusal to yield completely even under sustained pressure.
Varnished, wired and presented in a natural Tasmanian Oak floating frame.
