An elevated coastal panorama — warm ochre cliffs sweeping along a luminous teal bay toward a distant headland under a bright, cloud-filled sky. What makes this work significant is that it is entirely invented, constructed from no reference or photograph but from decades of physical experience in South Australian coastal landscapes. The coast is carried internally, available to be painted at any time from memory and feeling alone. The charcoal drawing integrates seamlessly into the painted surface, giving the work the specificity of a place genuinely known.
