A coastal dune landscape under dramatic overcast sky — the most atmospherically charged of the dune works. Dark grey-blue cloud masses press down from above while the pale sand below holds its warmth and luminosity, creating a sustained tension between the weight of approaching weather and the endurance of the landscape beneath it. The title names the precise moment the painting describes: light at its edge, holding on before the storm takes everything.
