In rust, in leaves, in overcast skies, that's where the Truth of Blue lies.

This work looks for blue where it hides. Drawn from time spent at Morialta Gorge and painted from memory rather than observation, it holds three blues at once: the blue-grey of gum leaves in mist, the low blue of an overcast sky, and the red-ochre rock that, in the Australian habit of calling a redhead Bluey, we have always called blue. Here the truth of blue is not a colour but a way of seeing. It's cool, remembered, and quietly contrary.

64 x 64 cm, mixed media on canvas, framed in Tasmanian Oak.
